On 25th April 1981 a group of local artists were responsible for the inception of the BELLTABLE ARTS CENTRE and since that time the venue has been responsible for investing in and developing the arts within Limerick. Over its 26 year history the venue has been responsible for developing such arts organisations as: Island Theatre Company, The Umbrella Project (Community Initiative), Daghdha Dance Company and now houses FRESH FILM FESTIVAL who produce regular events for young filmmakers and young drama practitioners in the city.
